This lovely 12th St. quilt pattern is by Brenda at Pink Castle Fabrics. When I saw the images of all the testers on instagram I knew it would be a perfect quilt to work on for Mark. Poor Mark has been waiting for a new quilt for over a year now. I kept promising a Scrappy Trip quilt, but then I'd get caught up in other quilts and projects. This quilt is super easy and comes together quickly. I teased that it took me longer to quilt it than to make the top. It is definitely a pattern I would recommend for all levels of quilters!
I used a lot of my favorite blue fat quarters from my favorite designers. I liked keeping in one color scheme and throwing in just a few bolder prints for a pop of color.
I quilted it with straight lines that formed large x's throughout the quilt. Not a complicated quilting---until you keep starting at the wrong places. My little home machine tends to do better with straight line quilting. Maybe one day I'll get an upgrade but for now she serves me well.
I'm pretty glad we're keeping this one because for some reason my backing got tilted when I basted.
It makes for a little bit of a wonky back.
I used all the scraps for a scrappy binding. It's such a bright and beautiful quilt and it made Mark super happy to have a new quilt to curl up under!!
