What started out as a really lovely week, turned into one of the hardest weeks of my life. On Thursday night my grandfather passed away. My family had planned a get together for Friday so that my grandparents could be surrounded by their 10 great grandchildren. His heart couldn't hold out that long. So instead, the end of the week turned into a family reunion of sorts to rally around my grandmother.
I haven't covered anything too sad in Project Life before. But, I wanted to remember him and some of the small moments in between the tears, memorial planning, and visiting with family. It felt important to keep going and not just gloss over the week.
Here's the full week:
At the beginning of the week we went to the park and tried to capture some jumping photos. You can read more about it here.
One of the best things about our town is the weekly food truck get together. My favorite ice cream shop has a truck and I couldn't resist a scoop after dinner.
I also added in one of the senses card from the Seafoam kit to talk about our summer so far.
We took a trip to the zoo and, before getting rained out, we got to see the animals being really active. Our favorite parts were the elephants playing in the water and the monkeys crossing the ropes nearly above our heads.
This is a photo collage from the week before, but I loved it and didn't have room for it last week. I created the collage in the Picframe app and printed it 4x4.
I added a card from the new pocket cards from Me & My Big Ideas and wrote directly on it.
This picture is a few years old, but it's one of my favorites of my grandparents.
My aunt flew in and it was great to get to spend some time with her too. Out of all of this, I am so grateful for the time to spend with family---especially the ones that we didn't plan on getting to see.
I went back and forth of whether or not to write the story of my grandfather's passing on a folding card. It was such a big part of the week that I decided to leave it open.
Grandma loved having all the grandkids around. Her and Aniyah were especially close!
My sister in law came one afternoon and did glitter and feathers in the girls' hair while we all visited.
It's really hard to be sad and grieve when you've got cute kids around.
I added in a photo from the self-portrait challenge that I'm trying to do on instagram.
Have you covered not so happy events in your Project Life? I'd love to hear about how & what you decided to share.
