A Quilt for Ci-Ci

As I was working on Jacob's Quilt, I got a request for a girl's I Spy quilt. Let me tell you, I haven't had the chance to work on a girl's one since finishing Naomi's quilt 2 years ago. Little Ci-Ci loves elephants, Elmo, the beach, princesses and her little white puppy. It was fun to go through all my "girly" novelty fabrics!

Both Ci-Ci's mom and Grandma are modern quilters so I wanted to honor that feel in her quilt too. I found this fabulous wood grain fabric to use as a border and added this fun Erin McMorris floral print.
Bindings always look good with a little polka dots or stripes!!

I hand tied the quilt to bind it with a pink embroidery floss that blends well with the pink polka triangles. My favorite part is finding and putting together all the hexagons. There are so many little treasures there for Ci-Ci to discover.

I changed the templates I was using slightly and so Ci-Ci is getting a slightly larger quilt than normal. It'll be be perfect to spread on her nursery floor!

Remind me next time to photograph before washing it!
The backing is a Northcutt solid. I found this amazing ombre print called Coquette from Chez Moi. I inserted a piece of the wood grain fabric to break it up a little.

And so soon this quilt will be in the hands of Ci-Ci's grandma. I feel so lucky and blessed to have been entrusted to make this for little Ci-Ci. I hope it provides lots of playtime, joy, & comfort.
