Favorite Music of 2011

I realized earlier this week that one thing I haven't written about much here is music. But, music has and does play a huge part of my life. I spent many years working in various forms of radio and even now that I'm home there is almost always music on in the background. I would love to claim that my tastes are pretty eclectic, but this year I have been stuck on pretty much the same sort of sound. I like to kid that if there is a bearded dude singing, I'm all about it. Don't worry, I've got a few ladies in rotation, too.  This list won't come as a big surprise.  Those people who know me well (or follow me on Twitter) know that I get unbelievably stuck on listening to the same albums over and over.  I tend to talk about them all the time, too.  So, hopefully you'll take a listen and discover some new music or you'll rest easy tonight knowing you guessed all my favorite albums of the year.

Bon Iver, Bon Iver

Feist, Metals

Fleet Foxes, Helplessness Blues

The Head and the Heart, S/T

Little Scream, The Golden Record

Low, C'mon

Iron and Wine, Kiss Each Other Clean

Tune-yards, WHO-KILL

I know that I am missing a lot of music. But, like I said, I get stuck on the same albums. On any given day this year, one of these albums is what would have been playing.
If I had to pick one favorite, I'd have to be honest and say that the Fleet Foxes album hits me in ways I was so unprepared for. When I look at how many times I've played that album I'm a little in shock. It's gotten played nearly everyday since it was released. I'm sure I'm forgetting some albums, too. Forgive me.

I do have an honorary mention:
The Muppets Stdrk

We are fans of the actual movie soundtrack---with movie dialogue placed throughout!  If you could only hear my two year old son sing this with my six year old daughter you would get why we are a Muppets family. This is probably one of my favorite movies of the year too.

And lastly: A track from 2010 that I can't stop listening to by King Krule. Thanks to Dooce for learning me to this one amazing track and for her inspiration to get this list out there.

What are your favorites from the year???
